The tasks a Lens Polisher (Optical) is expected to perform include:
Setting and operating the machine to polish surfaces of lens blank to high lustre
Selecting and fitting felt-lined polishing mould of required size and curvature on lower spindle of machine
Positioning block on which lens blanks are mounted against polishing tool
Starting the machine and applying rouge or any other polishing compound to disc periodically during polishing process to polish blank to required level of lustre
Stopping the machine and removing block from machine and examining blanks for defects
Operating battery and cylindrical polishing machines, if required
