The tasks a Caretaker, Monument is expected to perform include:

Looking after maintenance, cleanliness and safety of historical monuments and ancient structures of archaeological importance
Visiting premises under charge at regular intervals
Ensuring that the monument is cleaned , safety measures are carried out, visitors are allowed within prescribed time limits, and monument is not spoilt or damaged by them
Supervising work of subordinate staff such as Gardener, Chowkidar and Sweeper (dry and wet)
Reporting to authorities any damage or loss to monument
Guiding and explaining background of monument to visitors
Arranging sale of tickets for entry into the monument
