The tasks a Monitor, Telephone is expected to perform include:
Supervising and ensuring efficient operation of allotted section of telephone exchange
Allocating duties to Telephone Operators within section
Checking traffic on lines, periodically
Timing and signing transit inward and outward tickets
Assisting Telephone Operators in putting through built-up calls, checking and verifying defective traffic and recording dislocations in Interruption Register
Informing appropriate authority for detection of fault and its rectification inside exchange
Receiving subscribers’ complaints and taking remedial action
